A Quick Week

Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana.- Groucho Marx

Maybe it is just me, but it seems like this week has flown by. With the whirlwind sprint of the first two weeks behind us, we are settling into the routine of the year. Whether it is a seemingly endless list of short stories and Story Notes or a nagging deadline for a persuasive essay, remember that every assignment is one more rung on the ladder to your goals. Keep your eyes on the prize and don't let the day-to-day grind of the school year cloud your perspective on what we are accomplishing.

With every lesson we undertake, we are expanding our horizons; the base of knowledge with which we go out into the world. The skills that you learn in my class, and every other class you take, may not directly translate into whatever you choose to do with your life, but, if you let it, the determination and hard work it takes to acquire them will become a habit which will serve you well no matter what you choose to do in life.

If nothing else, please take this final thought with you. In life nothing comes without a cost. You will never have a life of comfort and success without sacrifice. If you can honestly tell yourself that you can be happy for the rest of your life knowing you never reached your potential, then so be it. However, if you don't think you can do that, buckle down and grind it out. I can assure you that the juice is well worth the squeeze. See you in class.

  2. I love the quote by Groucho Marx. I also agree with your thoughts. In order to be happy we do have to sacrifice some things, but I think it is definatly worth the sacifice. We all need to work as hard as we can so that we can reach our goals. It will be hard to accomplish everything inlife but we need to try and get as much done as we can.

  3. its funny when you say time flies because there are times when the week goes really fast and then the week goes really slow. there's never a time that the week goes fast every week because it seems like when you want something the week goes slow. then when you dont want anything to happen and your not waiting on anything the week flyes by. so and last week went by really slow and it dragged on all week it was probably because it was a four day weekend coming up we were all waiting on it so the week went by terribly slow i know i already said that but it is the truth.

  4. I agree with you on this blog. I have some classes that i`ve hated from day one for various reasons. But i`ve also realized that some of those classes are going to be very helpful to me when i go to college. To be a vet. i have to complete 8 years of college, i`m tired of school all ready and i`m just a sophomore but once i get done with all my schooling i`m going to be happy because becoming a vet is what i want to do. i`m pretty sure its not going to be an easy, pathed smooth road along the way either.

  5. I definitely agree. Your not always going to like your classes, but its obvious you need them to graduate and be successful in your life, and career. Once your done with high school, and college you're going to be thankful you have stuck it through. Its true about thow some weeks fly by, and some go extremely slow, I think when you're looking forward to something the week goes by really fast.

  6. This school year has flown by in my opinion. I have goteen distracted at the start of this quarter due to making it to the playoffs in football and basketball getting started but i sat down and realized that my grades werent where they needed to be. I have done everything that i can to get them back up where they need to be and i am not ganna lie, they can still get better. I have settled in now that football is over and i remembered my dream of becoming an Anesthesiologist which will be tough, but i will do it.

  7. Mr. Ogle,
Time seems to fly on some occasions, but when you are sitting in school it seems like it is a really long time til school is over. There is a lot of learning to be accomplished in these four years of high school. This is the time when you need to decide what you are planning in the future, job, school, and your life in general. So the studying that goes on now will help with the future goals we have after school. We may not know what we are going to do with our life yet and think we don't need the schooling right now but in the long run we will look back and realize this was all important and worth everyday of school whether we think so or not right now.

  8. Hey Mr. O...

This is like my 4th favorite post of yours. maybe 3rd. You see I have this big looming deadline for a research paper. But it's no sweat... Anyway, I kind of feel like there are a few teachers that feel as if their classes/programs are the most important and should require additional study time out of class.(Ur not one of them.) So on top of one deadline there is another, and another, and another... I'm real glad I have my agenda... I also have a real bad time-wasting habit which I need to work on ... I'm a super procrastinator.

  9. right right. that is very true because things come and go. sometimes you make wrong decisions for you or everyone around you, or you can make the best decision you will ever make in your entire life.

  10. the world changes everyday an many people do many wrong an right things. my favorite quote is by therdoore roosevelt. an in that quote says do what you can with what you have were you are. it tells me that i need to watch what i do an who i need to hang around. people change, places change, everything changes one day or another. you need an education to help to adapt to these changes so you will not be brought down in the world of caious

  11. This schoolyear has flown by like a car doing 90 mph on the interstate. we haven't really had time to sit down an get comfortable. I thought that i could just sit around an enjoy it but i thught wrong. today there was a wreck when i was on my way home b/c these people were drunk an flying down the road an hit a van that had 3 kids an the parents in it. the only one who made it out alive was the drunk. no matter how fast life comes at you, you should always think before you act cause you mite end up hurting sumthing you love or care for.

  13. you are right we sometimes have to make a sacrifice to accomplish things in life no matter wat the cause is. and at the same time we dont but it is always a good thing to do.

  14. It has been a while now since the first weeks of school, but I can tell you they went by fast. Homework is a killer and class gets long, but what I learn I know I will use in the future. Many people say that why do I need to learn something I'll never use. They don't know what their talking about. You allways will use what you learn at least once in the future. My father tells me stuff that he learned in high school he uses everyday at work. If your willing to learn than it should come easy and when things get a little hard don't let it get you down. You'll overcome your obstacles with a great feeling.

  16. Everything in life comes with sacrifice. Those choices we make may not seem right at the time, but in the end it will most likely work out. If you want to live a happy and successful life you have to give up some things, no matter how hard it is to let go.
